IMPACTO: Ministry Update and Prayer Requests

Prayer Requests:

Immer is sick and has been diagnosed with a bacteria in his stomach. He will be going for further testing and we ask that you please keep him lifted in prayer. Also keep Janet and the children in your prayers. We will keep you posted. We also thank you for providing the funds to pay for his medical tests.

Please keep Pastor Juan, Santa Maria Church, lifted in prayer. Funds were provided for him to go to the eye doctor and tests showed that his eyes are progressively getting worse. The doctor prescribed eye drops which have helped. Pastor Juan now has to wear special eyeglasses and in one year will be re-evaluated to see if surgery will be necessary. During all of this, he began having severe ear pain and was taken to the ear, nose and throat doctor. It was discovered that he has a very acute infection and has lost hearing in one ear. He now faces surgery to keep from losing hearing in his other ear. Please keep him, and his family, lifted in prayer. He will be unable to work for 3 weeks and is concerned about his income. We have assured him that Impacto’s Pastor’s Fund has enough in it to help him out. We also praise God for the generous donation received to pay for Pastor Juan’s visit to the eye doctor, his glasses, and for the surgery he will be having on his ear.

Please keep all of our pastors lifted in prayer. They work very hard shepherding their churches in addition to holding paying jobs to feed and clothe their families.

Praises and Ministry Update:

Praise the Lord! Donations have been made for the FLET project to be funded for 2 years! This means that 50 students will be given books and trained. Praise God! As you may remember, this was one of the priorities listed in the December newsletter. It is a huge blessing for our churches in Guatemala since it will provide training for leaders.

Praise the Lord! A new preaching point has been started in the village of Panabar near Santa Clara. A donation was made to purchase land to build for building a church. What a blessing this will be for the community!

Praise the Lord! The roof is being added to the church in San Jorge, Zacapa, and two Sunday School classes have been built. God is moving in this area in a mighty way!

It has been a very busy year so far and Pastor Luis has done a lot of traveling! He asks that you please continue to pray for the teams that are coming to minister in Guatemala this year. There have been 4 teams that have served thus far, building houses, starting the Sunday School classroom building at San Jorge’s new church and working on the sanctuary building, holding leadership training sessions, teaching a sewing class and giving the students sewing machines, holding a pre-crusade ladies’ breakfast that over 400 unchurched women attended, working at the Promised Land, ministering in a new village (Panabar), and holding Happy Feet and children’s ministry events.

In addition to working with the teams in Guatemala, Pastor Luis has also traveled to Idaho, Indiana Wesleyan University, and two churches in Virginia to preach and share about his ministry.

There are 4 teams scheduled to serve in March. Construction projects will include widow’s houses, building and painting benches, Happy Feet, and other projects. Work will be in Zacapa and in the Lake Atitlan area.

We have been blessed with the free services of an architect and engineer. The Promised Land blueprints are complete and we hope to start construction very soon. Watch for news on this!

Pastor Luis is extremely happy that Dinora, his wife, will be traveling with him in March and April to assist with teams.

You can view the 2008 schedule on Impacto’s website: www.impacto-luismartinez.org.

Thank you for your continued support for Pastor Luis and Impacto Ministries!

Blessings in Christ,
Sarah Poythress
